We are Alice Robinson & Mark Winstanley, two highly skilled and experienced performers, teachers and theatre makers whose work has played at venues and theatre festivals across the world.
We are both associate teachers at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and teach at conservatoire theatre schools and universities across the UK. Between us we have over 30 years teaching experience and have taught at Ecole Philippe Gaulier, RADA, RWCMD, LIPA, ALRA North, East 15 and Bath Spa, to name a few.
The Performers' Playground will help you discover new approaches to Theatre and Acting.
We have worked with hundreds of students over the years and we realise that each person is on their own individual creative path.
If you choose to work with us we will help and guide you towards achieving your creative goals and ambitions.

Alice Robinson - Movement and Play

“I specialise in enlivening the play within your bodies through a combination of dance, ball work, yoga, game play and improvisation. My approach will encourage a fitter, stronger and more agile body and mind ready for the demands of performance and creativity. I will invite you to go beyond your movement patterns and habits and you will leave with a deeper understanding of how to access movement that is playful, impulsive and free. As you re discover the freedom to play you will become present to the endless possibilities you have as a performer.
It's a whole new world”

Mark Winstanley- Acting and improvisation

"I love to play - it is the most amazing fun we can have on stage.
I want you to LEARN TO LOVE PLAYING ON STAGE, together we will go in search of a beautiful game, one that is light as air and vibrates with imagination and laughter, one that carries in it wild impulses, the rhythms of nature and the unique pleasure of each actor.

Along the way you will encounter the flop, it can be scary but don't freeze with fear because the flop is there to help you. Don't flee from it like a frightened child who runs crying to mamma because there are monsters in the wardrobe.
Mr flop is your friend who wants to help you to become more sensitive, playful and free.

In my classes you will be challenged and provoked time and time again, you will unlearn what you think you know, and get totally lost.
Getting lost is important.
When we are lost we can search for our way.
ADVENTURE AWAITS IN THE UNKNOWN.

This is not a teaching that passes on this tool or that technique.
I don't give you a system or a method.
I provoke and push and tickle and wrestle you out of those habits that you have formed that are holding you back.

Through provocation and a SEARCH FOR BEAUTY I offer a space for you to become a firework and explode on the stage
It is a great pleasure to teach this way, every day I say to myself today we are going to have fun and we do.
So come on, what are you waiting for?
LET"S PLAY"
