Venue: Gorse Hill Studios, Manchester, M32 0PS

We are thrilled to welcome back Norman Taylor, an original Le Coq teacher, to run a masterclass exploring how to create atmospheres and tension before we fight, speak text and act! Throughout the week we will play with various Shakespeare texts and explore how to playfully and imaginatively bring them to life.
We humans always move before we speak… and also before we do something. This movement takes place in silence. If you want people to hear you, you can speak loud. If, however, you want them to listen, then you need to create silence… and it’s there!
In this workshop we are going to explore the creation of atmospheres that go before texts. We will see how movement exercises can give structure to texts. How movement can create and nurture a situation that leads to a fight.
The texts will be from from Shakespeare: The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Julius Caesar as well as extracts from Poe and Chekhov.
"I am a movement analysis freak! You know! So I always use the famous Lecoq exercises" - Norman Taylor
